Being A Galatians 1:10 Princess | Guest blog by Ariana Matondo of Handfuls of Honey

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God_ Or am I trying to please people_

When thinking of Galatians 1:10, I’m filled with warmth and mirth. Almost every time I remember the verse, my mind goes back to the first time I said ‘yes’ to Jesus. I remember the first time I lifted my shaky hands to worship. I remember the first time I truly understood that there was a way out of the darkness, and it’s Jesus. And He loves me.

Galatians 1:10 – Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

The first time I stumbled upon this verse was a couple months ago. I went to Starbucks with a couple friends and we studied Galatians 1 and 2. My breath was quite literally taken away when I saw the verse. Something clicked in my head just then, and I was reminded of when I was first saved.

When I got saved, it had nothing to do with others. In fact, if it did have to do with others, I’m sure I wouldn’t have gotten saved at all! It was when I realized, hey: there’s nobody who will ever love me the way God does. I want to know Him and lose everything I’ve ever known to find myself in Him.

In a few days, some will laugh and smile as they get together with family and count down the seconds to the new year. Others will sit down and scrunch their eyebrows together, summon their strength to create goals they have for the new year. And some of you, will continue to live life the way you always have; only with the approval of others.

Can I tell you something? God wants to use you next year. Every single person reading this has the immense power to make an imprint on someones life. Every single person reading this will have chains broken, or will break others chains (with the grace of God). But a huge, huge, huge blockage in all of those blessings will be if you’re not doing it for God. Yes, no one else may see your intentions, but God sees the heart. And you can see yours too.

It’s easier to give up when you do something for someone who isn’t God. When they don’t do something the way you thought they would or they don’t act the way you thought they would it will be so easy to lose momentum.

When you think of what is in store for 2018, strip any external thoughts from your mind. Say goodbye to what your friends want, what your siblings want, what your teachers want, what your parents want.

What do you see God doing next year in your life?

What do you see God doing next year through you?

Follow that instead.

Holiday Survival Guide for Christian Women

Snacks for the celebration

The holidays can be such a hectic time. It’s so easy to lose track of the spirit of Christmas. Obligations overtake joy and errands take precedent over worship. It’s important to plan activities to help us stay grounded and remember what the holidays are really about – our Lord and our families.

The team at Doves & Daughters has put together a little list of ways to keep our heads on straight as December kicks into gear.

+ Give back!

Nothing keeps our souls in check quite like service to our communities. This Christmas while you’re getting your holiday cards together, consider contacting local nursing homes to see if you can send some personalized cards to the older folks who may not have their families around. You can even organize a card writing campaign with your community at church! Another great way to give back is by sending some goodies to our troops. Organizations like Soldiers’ Angels are a fantastic way to bring a little Christmas cheer to our men & women abroad!

+ Make time for quiet

Pour yourself some hot chocolate & do some journaling or Bible study. Check out our Pinterest board Christmas Bible Study for some reading inspiration!

We’ve also included some Christmas Bible journaling inspiration. Make sure to check out the Bible journaling supplies we’ve just started carrying on our website!

+ Decorate On a Dime

Sometimes I wonder why we spend so much on decorations! Decorating the house with your family is such a wonderful tradition but we definitely don’t need to break the bank to do it. A little decorating DIY can be way better. Keeping decoration spending in check can help save some money for gifts for loved ones! We created a Christmas Decoration DIY Pinterest board to help with some ideas!

+ Make Holiday Plans with Friends Earlier in the Month

The end of December can sneak up on us so quickly! Relieve some of the last minute chaos by planning your friend’s Christmas celebrations earlier in the month!

+ Print a Christmas Gift List & Budget Ahead of Time

Check out our Holiday Pinterest board for some free printables so help keep track of your budget a gift buying this season. You can also check out Doves & Daughters for Christian gifts for the women in your life.

+ Plan some free or budget friendly holiday activities for your family & friends

Our best Christmas memories are the simple ones with family. Schedule some time to drive around checking out Christmas lights, plan a cozy Christmas movie night, decorate wreaths with friends, or organize a letter to Santa writing party for the kiddos!

+ The Crock Pot is your friend

Save some time while you’re running Christmas shopping errands or picking up relatives from the airport and have dinner cooking itself in the slow cooker. When our schedules are nuts, the crock pot is our best friend. Check out our Slow Cooker Recipe Pinterest board for recipes & inspiration!

And most of all, remember:
